Croutons

I admit – we always have bread in the house. We love bread! However, we don’t always finish the loaf before we get a new one and the last bit sometimes seems to be left behind in the basket ending up a bit hard. I love it as it allows me to make the best croutons ever…or salted bread chips, which can be used for appetizers and dips. And it is super easy!!

Ingredients:

Old bread

Olive oil

Coarse salt if you make chips

Method:

With a big knife, dice the bread into cubes (sometimes they might break but they taste as good just the same). If you make chips, slice the bread as finely as possible. Add them to a baking tray lined with foil or baking paper. Drizzle the cubes or chips with a bit of olive oil and bake for approximately 15 minutes at 170 degrees celcius.

If you are making chips, add a bit of coarse sea salt when baked.

These are great for salads and soups like onion soup.
